Makueni County Sand Conservation and Utilization Authority, under the leadership of Captain Green Ke spearheaded a tree-planting initiative involving over 300 seedlings at Kamunyuni site in Thange Ward as part of its ongoing efforts to rehabilitate sand harvesting sites. Kyee Mbatha, also known as "Captain Green," serves as the Chairperson of the Conservation Committee of the Makueni County Sand Conservation and Utilization Authority Board. In adherence to Section 17 of the Makueni County Sand Conservation and Utilization Act 2015, the Authority is steadfast in its mission to restore ecosystems impacted by sand harvesting and to promote sustainable practices that balance environmental conservation and resource utilization. Operating under the campaign slogan "Our Sand, Our Livelihood," the Authority highlights the vital role sand resources play in sustaining the environment while supporting the livelihoods of local communities. This initiative reinforces the Authority's dedication to fostering ecological restoration and sustainable development in Makueni County.
