The sand dam is located in Wote/Nziu Ward, Makueni Sub-county. It was funded by the Sand Authority in the 2023/2024 financial year and constructed across the Kaiti River. The sand dam has a storage capacity of 70,000 cubic meters, a height of 3 meters and a length of 85 meters.
