Restoring Water Security: Desilting of Katilini Earth Dam Begins in Kiima Kiu/Kalanzoni Ward

The desilting of Katilini Earth Dam in Kiima Kiu/Kalanzoni Ward has officially begun, spearheaded by Makueni County Sand Conservation and Utilization Authority in response to a request from the local community and the Earth Dam Sustainability Committee.
This initiative aims to enhance water availability for the local community, addressing water scarcity and mitigating the effects of prolonged drought. By clearing accumulated silt and excess sand deposits, the project seeks to restore the dam's capacity, ensuring a sustainable water supply for domestic use, livestock and agriculture.
The Authority emphasizes the importance of water conservation efforts and remains committed to supporting the community through environmental restoration and resource management.
